Naperville North High School
The facilities needs for Naperville North High School are more specific than the more comprehensive needs at Naperville Central, but the needs at North are vitally-important for the long term maintenance of the modern educational experience for students. Further, in meeting the needs at Naperville North, district resources will be more efficiently and effectively used well into the future. The needs at North can be best summarized as follows. The current Naperville North High School has:
- A pool that is unusable for swim meets as it no longer meets modern standards for competition or Americans with Disabilities Act standards of accessibility for students and spectators
- Pool locker rooms that need upgrading due to both size inadequacy and outdated facilities
- Traffic and parking needs that provide major and consistent safety and congestion concerns in terms of parking lots and especially pick-ups and drop-offs before- and after school
- Insufficient PE and athletic practice space necessitating a synthetic turf field that will allow greater use of existing fields for physical education, band and athletic practice, as well as athletic contests
The proposed improvements at Naperville North High School will address all of these needs and provide a long-term answer for the students and for the community.
Here is a link to a letter from NNHS principal Ross Treumper on the expected effects of these improvements on life for students and parents at Naperville North.
